NIDO Montessori School is an international kindergarten fully licensed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation in Kosovo.
NIDO Montessori School was founded in 2021 to offer high-quality Montessori education in Kosovo. Our curriculum is focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) fields and combines the Montessori methodologies to keep children engaged while fostering a natural interest in learning. We offer Montessori education that focuses on all five core principles on the methodology as initially developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.
Practical Life – Children will learn basic courtesy and grace skills, along with sewing, scrubbing, gardening, mopping, polishing and other practical life activities. These practical life skills will provide the foundation for other activities by helping children help themselves while gaining independence.
Sensorial – Children will explore language, mathematics, geometry, art, and music through sensorial material. Such hands-on learning helps children more effectively understand the world through their “sensitive periods”.
Language – Language is not taught, but rather it develops through human interaction. Children will use words to describe experiences, and they will develop their reading and writing through using a rich vocabulary.
Math – Children are naturally influenced and attracted to numbers and math is a product of intellect. Children will learn to count, understand the decimal system and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Art – Children use art to express their feelings and develop creativity. Art is the only open-ended activity in a Montessori environment, and teachers will highly encourage children to use art to communicate.
Our school is located in the quiet part of the Kalabria neighborhood in Pristina, far from traffic and city noise. Our state-of-the-art classrooms offer plenty of natural light, separate dining areas and an indoor play area for children to spend time during the peak of air pollution in the Pristina area. More information on air pollution can be found on the Purple Air website featuring our own air quality monitor. Our classrooms and indoor play area are equipped with indoor air purifiers and are checked and maintained regularly.
We use Association Montessori Internazionale (AMI)-approved materials that focus on children’s natural development and foster innate desires for learning.
